SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING & SQUASH NZ CLUBS HUI

Squash Waikato are holding a Special General Meeting on Monday 16th of May 6.30pm at Lugton Park Squash Club. We are holding this meeting to pass the new changes to the Constitution. To review the constitution you can do this here. This will then be followed by Squash NZ Waikato Clubs hui. I encourage all clubs to be represented at this important meeting, as Squash NZ will detail all of the changes coming in 2023, with specific focus on the Levy Model. Please make sure at least 1-2 club members attend this meeting.

Congratulations to all of the Waikato players who competed in the New Zealand Junior Open in the school holidays in Henderson, Auckland. A special mention to Sophie Hodges for winning the Girls Junior Open for the first time. All results are as follows:

SQUASHSMART CLUB RESOURCE - THE SQUASH NZ ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM

Don't forget to check out this amazing online resource that Squash NZ have created for clubs to make it easier to run. If you have new committees or roles in the committee, then this resource is perfect to find out some more information. 

SquashSmart will house all Squash NZ learning content including, Club Management, Coach Development, Refereeing, and a new Tournament Controller pathway which is currently under development. 

Club committee members and administrators will be able to complete a number of micro-learning lessons covering a range of topics with the first release of five lessons covering Funding Applications, Volunteerism, Social Media & Website, and Participation Programmes. Each lesson will take between 5-10 minutes to complete. You can check out the Club SquashSmart resource here

REPRESENTING WAIKATO

The Leevey Shield challenge is taking place in Ohakune on Saturday 21st May. This is an annual Senior event, where Waikato take on Central. Good luck to the following players who will compete at this event:

WAIKATO MASTERS - CALLING ALL MASTERS!

As some of you may be aware the Waikato is hosting the NZ Masters Individuals & Teams Event at Hamilton Squash & Tennis Club on the 9th - 13th of September. If you are a master and interested in being considered for selection in the Waikato Masters Team, then please let Nicki Blake (manager@squashwaikato.co.nz) or Craig Endres (scratch.endres@gmail.com) know. 

Our Waikato Masters event will take place on the 27th-28th of May at Matamata. Please support this tournament if you can. Enter via iSquash, see poster below for more info. 

WAIKATO DISTRICT SUPERCHAMPS

It may seem too early for this, but it is that time of year again where Clubs battle it out for Club Pride and to go on to represent Waikato at the NZ Superchamps Nationals. For more information please see poster below:

  • Grading List Transfer Cut off 9th June
  • Grading List cut off date for eligibility/seeding 10th June
  • Team entries close/Host requests due 13th June
