WKSS INDIVIDUALS - RESULTS The Waikato Secondary School Boys & Girls Individual Champs were held on Thursday 1st June. A big thank you to Hamilton Squash & Tennis Club , Cambridge Racquets Club and Te Rapa Squash Club for hosting these tournaments. A great turn out with over 100 participants on the day! Thank you to Suzie from Cambridge, Emma Millar & Kylie Seator for all your work on the day. Congratulations to our Boys Champion Liam Smith (Hillcrest) and our Girls Champion Sophie Hodges (HGHS). WKSS TEAMS EVENT - RESULTS The WKSS Girls & Boys teams were held on Tuesday 6th June & Thursday 8th June at Hamilton Squash & Tennis Club. Awesome to have players returning after the individual competition last week. This year we had 8 girls teams and 20 boys teams. WAIKATO VS BOP RACKETBALL - RESULTS A band of merry Racketballers (abound with talent and good humour) headed over the Kaimai Ranges on Saturday 10th June for their 1st attempt at a teams Challenge hosted by Waikato’s ardent gang of players. A very convincing win (19-5) to the BoP. Congratulations to the BOP on their victory. All matches were played in great spirit. A massive thank you to the TC - Andie Rogers and Bruce and Lugton Park for hosting. Entries are open for the 2023 NZ Racketball Festival being held in Hamilton on Saturday 26 August at the Lugton Park and Ruakura Squash Clubs. Girls only - Give Squash a Go A new programme to give girls the opportunity to give squash a go in a safe and supportive environment. For females delivered by females. The 4 week programme gives girls the opportunity to give squash a go as well as move in other ways. Importance if placed on making social connections, having choice over the way we move and having fun. WAIKATO JUNIOR OPEN - RESULTS A great weekend of junior squash took place on the 23 -24 June at Te Awamutu Squash Club. HARCOURTS KDRE MORRINSVILLE OPEN PSA - RESULTS Morrinsville hosted a great line up of both National & International players at the Morrinsville Open & PSA event over the weekend of 22-25th June. This event is the only PSA to be held in the Waikato for the year, with the event being a Mens Challenger Tour 5 Tournament and the Womens a WSF Satellite Tournament. It was great to see current PSA players from New Zealand, Australia and current World Junior Boys Champion Rowan Damming from Netherlands. Well done to Georgia Robcke (Thames Squash Club) and Rowan Damming (NED) for winning the Morrinsville Open trophies. WAIKATO CUP 2023 - NEW DATES & FORMAT A new competition for 2023, based on the Nations Cup which was held in Tauranga last year. The Waikato Cup is an inter-cluster competition based on the 7 clusters in the Waikato Region. Each cluster will provide a male and female player in the below grades, a total of 10 players per cluster. All players can register to be part of their cluster here Grades: A/B grade, C grade, D grade, E grade, F/J grade If two or more players in the same grade and cluster register to play Waikato Cup, the player with the higher points will be selected, with the second highest being a reserve. If a cluster cannot provide a player in a specific grade, then they are eligible for an import from another cluster. The competition will take place inbetween Winter & Spring interclub rounds on the following dates: ➢ Week 1 – Tuesday 1st August (Both) ➢ Week 2 – Tuesday 8th August (Mens), Wednesday 9 th August (Womens) ➢ Week 3 – Tuesday 17th October (Mens), Wednesday 18th October (Womens) ➢ Semi-Finals – Tuesday 24th October (Mens), Wednesday 25th October (Womens) ➢ Finals – Wednesday 1st November (Both) For more information around the format/rules, then check them out here.  |

NZ SQUASH CHAMPIONSHIPS Congratulations to Joelle King and Paul Coll on winning the NZ Squash Championships over the weekend. It is great to see these two return and defend their titles. This is Joelle’s 10th NZ squash championships title, equaling squash great Dame Susan Devoy. Also congratulations to Lwamba Chileshe for finishing runner-up. You did Waikato proud against such a tough opponent!
