Our first Waikato Event took place this month and tournaments are in full swing by now. It has been pleasing to see the growth in tournament entries this year and also in Winter Interclub numbers, with 100 teams all up. 

Keep an eye out for two Waikato Events this upcoming month, Waikato Open and Waikato Masters at Te Rapa. The Waikato Open is promising to be a big one, with the return of Lwamba Chileshe and Temwa Chileshe.

JUNIOR QUAD RESULTS

Our Waikato Junior Quad team returned on Sunday 2nd April from Whangarei after playing in the Junior Quadrangular against Northland, Auckland and Bay of Plenty. Thank you to coach Emma Millar and manager Rebecca Hill. Also to the parents who took cars and helped out with the team.

AUTUMN INTERCLUB WINNERS 2023

Congratulations to all of the Autumn Interclub Pennant Winners for 2023. It was great to see an increase in teams playing this year.

Winter Interclub kicks off on Tuesday 2nd May (Mens) and Wednesday 3rd May (Womens). It is a great FREE resource, so get your team together and give it a go.

WAIKATO RACKETBALL OPEN

The Inaugural Waikato Racketball Open done and dusted! 24 tired but happy entrants enjoyed a day of R'Ball on Saturday 15th April. Thank you to Ruakura and Te Rapa for hosting this event. Thanks to all players for their sportsmanship.

A 5 week Racketball Interclub will be running on Thursdays, starting on Thursday 18th May.

  • Teams of 3 (2 males / 1 female)
  • Matches will be handicapped to level up matches
  • 5 week competition every Thursday
  • 7pm start
  • Likely to be Hamilton based

It may seem too early for this, but it is that time of year again where Clubs battle it out for Club Pride and to go on to represent Waikato at the NZ Superchamps Nationals. For more information please see poster below:

WAIKATO CUP 2023 - NEW DATES & FORMAT

A new competition for 2023, based on the Nations Cup which was held in Tauranga last year. The Waikato Cup is an inter-cluster competition based on the 7 clusters in the Waikato Region. Each cluster will provide a male and female player in the below grades, a total of 10 players per cluster. All players can register to be part of their cluster here

Grades: A/B grade, C grade, D grade, E grade, F/J grade

If two or more players in the same grade and cluster register to play Waikato Cup, the player with the higher points will be selected, with the second highest being a reserve. If a cluster cannot provide a player in a specific grade, then they are eligible for an import from another cluster. 

The competition will take place inbetween Winter & Spring interclub rounds on the following dates: 

➢ Week 1 – Tuesday 1st August (Both) 

➢ Week 2 – Tuesday 8th August (Mens), Wednesday 9 th August (Womens) 

➢ Week 3 – Tuesday 17th October (Mens), Wednesday 18th October (Womens) 

➢ Semi-Finals – Tuesday 24th October (Mens), Wednesday 25th October (Womens) 

➢ Finals – Wednesday 1st November (Both)
