COMMUNITY SQUASH PROGRAMMES
We have been making some new connections lately and providing some new opportunities for people to participate in Squash.
Our Girls Beginner Squash Programme was offered to Secondary School girls to try and help encourage girls to be active and participate in sport for fun. We had 10-12 girls take part from 4 different Secondary Schools take part. We have also worked with Youthtown to deliver a session to HGHS students who are part of a Not So Sports Club - which involves taking a group of girls once a week to try various activities that sit outside the traditions team sports format. They had so much fun, that they want to give squash a go again.
We also delivered a squash session to staff from Te Kohao Health, who are encouraging and making time for their staff to be active. We had 13 staff come and participate in a 45 minute squash session, some it was their first time playing squash. Again we received positive feedback and hope to see them back for another session soon.
